Saumya Sutaria MD Principal McKinsey & Company Saum is a Principal in McKinsey & Company's Silicon Valley Office. His interests and focus are in the health care sector with a special emphasis in Provider systems. He leads McKinsey’s North American Health Systems practice. Selected recent client service experiences in the Provider sector at McKinsey include: -Design and implementation of a comprehensive operational improvement program at a leading national hospital chain -Strategic organizational change program and definition of management roles and responsibilities for the corporate center, regional offices and hospital leadership at a leading national hospital chain. -Development of a customer and physician service strategy and field toolkit for a corporate center at a leading national hospital chain -Design and implementation of clinical practice excellence guidelines, clinical operations improvements and patient safety standards for a large hospital chain -Diligence and market based assessment of performance improvement opportunities for a large healthcare services company leveraged buyout -Corporate strategy including M&A strategy for a leading national hospital chain with rural asset portfolio -Repositioning a leading outpatient healthcare services provider in the marketplace with a new physician value proposition and initiatives to implement change -Developed new equity based business models for partnerships with physicians for a leading outpatient healthcare services provider -Developed proprietary method to evaluate and improve academic medical center research productivity including approach for technology transfer and industry alliances. Performed jointly with two of the top 10 academic medical centers in the country. -Development of the scientific strategy and business plan for a genetic research screening program for a Top 10 US academic medical center Prior to joining McKinsey & Company, Saum had and still maintains an associate clinical faculty appointment at the University of California at San Francisco. Saum received his M.D. from the University of California at San Diego where he was a Howard Hughes Fellow and completed his post-graduate training at the University of California at San Francisco. In addition, he holds a B.S. in Molecular and Cellular Biology and a B.A. in Economics from the University of California at Berkeley where he received the University Medal. |
